Registry of Italians residing abroad (AIRE)

AIRE registration is requested by Italian law and is a fundamental requirement to access to the services of this Consulate General.  Law no. 213 (art.1, paragraph 242) of December 30th, 2023 (gazzettaufficiale.it/eli/gu/2023/12/30/303/so/40/sg/pdf) introduced a fine of up to EUR 1,000.00 for each year of failure to register to AIRE, for a maximum of 5 years of fine, for all Italian citizens residing abroad.

IF TRANSFERRING FROM/TO ANOTHER CONSULATE:

If you’re currently registered with AIRE and need to move from on jurisdiction to ours please follow the FAST IT FAQs regarding Notification of change of residence.

If you have a passport issued from our Consulate (or another) you’re already registered with our registry (or that of another office). If you did not originally use FAST IT may create a FAST IT account (using the EXACT NAME on your Italian documents- COMPLETE SURNAME + FIRST NAME + EVENTUAL MIDDLE NAME) and complete the identity verification procedure to link their account to the Consular database.

TO VERIFY IF ALREADY PRESENT IN THIS CONSULAR REGISTRY – click on “VISUALIZZARE LA PROPRIA SCHEDA ANAGRAFICA” and follow the instructions.

Be aware that verifying your identity only links our FAST IT account to your consular e-file. No changes (such as address) are made through it.

PLEASE NOTICE:

If you’re stuck at “state or territory of residence” you need to type (not copy and paste) and select: STATI UNITI D’AMERICA

The creation of a FAST IT account doesn’t mean the registration/update has been submitted through the system.

After a successful submission, you will receive an automated confirmation by email and your application status will appear as “submitted” in your FAST IT account.

Once the application status indicates that it has been sent to the competent Italian Municipality, it is their responsibility to complete the registration. Therefore, if your request is still pending after 3+ months you may contact them directly in order to speed up the process.

Adult children (+18) residing in our Consular district, who’s birth certificate has been registered in Italy or possess an Italian passport must submit an individual application in order to register with A.I.R.E. or update their address.

Only the Italian Comune of residency in Italy can issue certificates of AIRE registration or certificates of residency. Certificati Anagrafici Rilasciati Gratuitamente dai Comuni Online – Consolato Generale d’Italia a Los Angeles Please contact them directly.
