The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in partnership with Ministry of Education, Universities and Research has organized, on March 28, the “States General for the promotion of the Italian higher education abroad”.
During the event the “Strategic Plan 2017-2020 for the promotion of the national system of higher education”has been presented with the aim of fostering the internationalization of the Italian higher education. The project aims at attracting foreign students to Italian higher education institutions within 2020, and is part of the broader framework of the “Plan for the integrated promotion of the Sistema Paese” (promoted by the general direction of MAECI).
Some of the key aspects of the Strategic Plan are:
– Analysis of foreing students’ main destinations;
– Simplification of procedures: admission, visas, recognition of foreign degrees;
– Improvement of the Universitaly website (http://www.universitaly.it/);
– Creation of a more functional coordination structure for the promotion of the higher education system;
– Promotion of the Italian language and culture;
– Launch or strenghtening of the “Antenne” for the promotion in countries of priority interest;
– Plan of “Roadshows” for the presentation of the Italian Institutions of higher education.
For 2017 roadshows have been planned in China, India and the USA.
