The North American premiere of the play “Pinocchio” by Massimiliano Finazzer Flory was staged on January 18 at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles as part of the celebrations for “2013 Year of Italian Culture in the United States” . A large and enthusiastic crowd gathered for the occasion at the Institute to watch the acclaimed performance.
The performance is a unique combination of poetry, acting, dance and music that unite to express that universal message that Italian childen’s writer Carlo Collodi wanted to share: the complexity of the relationship of spirit and matter and finally the miracle of creation.
Choreography was handeled by Michela Lucenti, on stage as one of the dancers together with Emanuela Serra, while Gianlunca Pezzino was playing at the piano the music inspired by composers Nino Rota and Fiorenzo Carpi, best known as author of Comencini’s Pinocchio theme.
After L.A., the play was staged at the Old Little Theatre in Santa Barbara as a single performance on January 22nd.
