The Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, together with the Italian Trade Agency and Cultural Institute, celebrated the Italian Design Day (IDD) on March 16th at the Luminaire showroom, in the iconic design district of West Hollywood.
Architect Roberto Palomba, of Studio Palomba Serafini Associati, was this year’s guest of honor and Ambassador of Italian Design.
The Architect, who spoke after the institutional greetings of this Consulate, Trade Agency and Cultural Institute, presented the theme of this year’s edition of the IDD, namely quality in design as an illuminating project, aimed at ensuring the durability and sustainability of products, for the benefit of people and the environment.
The presentation by Roberto Palomba was followed by a panel on enlightening quality and the holistic concept of design. The panel, moderated by Carlo Caccavale, of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), involved: Architect Palomba, Anthony Morey, Vice President of Design & Strategy at Luminaire and Susan Chang, Partner of AIA Los Angeles and founder of the Shimoda Design group.
The event ended with an open debate and Italian aperitif, which offered participants a useful opportunity for networking.
On the eve of the Design Day in Los Angeles, on March 15th, Architect Palomba also held a Masterclass at the Hollywood High School, organized by this Consulate in collaboration with Fondazione Italia.
