The exhibition Italy of the Future kicked off the Second edition of the Italian Month of Science on September 4 at the Italian Cultural Institute. The initiative includes a series of events highlighting Italy\u2019s contribution to the world\u2019s scientific and technological reasearch with the participation of experts from the US and from Italy.
Subdivided into 6 areas \u2013 Robotics, Particle Physics, Sea and Transport, Archeology and Cultural heritage restoration, Medicine and an all new Made in Italy \u2013 the exhibit, Italy in the Future promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and organized in collaboration with the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, the Italian Institute of Technology, Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa.
Consul General Perrone greeted the guests underlining the key role science and technology play in shaping up Italian cultural identity. He went on to point out how science and technology will continue to be key factors in promoting\u00a0 economic and social development.
After the screening of the documentary \u201cMagnificent Journey” by Alberto Angela, a panel discussed the impact of new technologies in everyday living, in particular focusing on medicine with the participation of\u00a0 Vito Campese, Head of Nephrology Department\u00a0 at USC (University of Southern California) and President of ISSNAF, Edward Crandall, Head of the Pulminary Intensive Care unit at USC, Mario Gerla, Professor of Computer Science in UCLA\u00a0 and\u00a0 Andr\u00e9 de Fusco, Director General of Cynvenio Biosystems Inc.
