This, and much more, was offered at Movie’n’Food – Sapore di Cinema, the brainchild of Elisabetta Cantone and Francesca Silvestri of Dress and Dreams, which took place at the Italian Cultural Institute on November 13 on the occasion of the 2013 edition of Cinema Italian Style. It did so through the pages of a Secret Notebook that illustrates the relationship between Movies and Food and provides an excursion among famous scenes where the unchallenged protagonist is Italian food. Laura Delli Colli, curator of the Cinema Italian Style Festival and author of “The Taste of Cinema”, contributed to the preparation of the Notebook, where anecdotes and behind the scenes stories blossom into recipes of 10 dishes made iconic by famous movies. We learn, for instance, that Mastroianni asked the cook to use garbanzos instead of beans indicated in the script of I Soliti Ignoti and that Sophia Loren learned to prepare Spaghetti alla Carbonara while filming La Ciociara. The Cinema-based menu of the evening did not forget De Sica and Visconti, Fellini , Scola, and Tornatore nor did it overlook Martin Scorsese, with his Little Italy family recipe for meat sauce.

From Rome to Hollywood for a big night of Cinema and Taste.
