\nREQUIREMENTS FOR AN ITALIAN VISA FOR FAMILY REASONS
\n<\/strong>(Family members of EU\\EEA citizens residing in Italy or who will reside in Italy)<\/p>\n

Family members eligible to apply for a National Visa for Family reasons are spouse, dependent children under the age of 21, dependent parents of the EU citizens or of their spouse.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Applicants must submit the following documents in original:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. United States passport, or passport and Alien Registration Card<\/strong>. Passport must be valid for at least 3 (three) months beyond the validity date of the requested visa and must have two consecutive blank pages available for the visa. The US Alien Registration Card must be valid for the next years.<\/li>\n
  2. Original and a photocopy of your valid Driver\u2019s License or State ID<\/strong>\u00a0issued by California, Arizona, Nevada or New Mexico (Driver\u2019s License or State ID issued by other States are not accepted); if you moved and have not updated your Driver\u2019s License or State ID from California, Arizona, Nevada or New Mexico, you must submit a current (same, if available, or previous month of your appointment) bill of water, gas or electricity (other types of bill are not accepted). We may requested additional documents as proof of residence.<\/li>\n
  3. One <\/strong>\u00a0National (Italian) Visa Application Form<\/strong><\/a>, completely and clearly filled out and to be signed in the presence of a Consular Officer.<\/li>\n
  4. One recent passport size photograph\u00a0<\/strong>(2 x 2 inches in size, full face, front view, in color).<\/li>\n
  5. A letter from the Italian\/EU citizen <\/strong>addressed to the Consulate General of Italy, stating the family relationship, requesting that a visa be issued to the applicant who will join him\/her in Italy and the address where they will reside. Plus a copy of the Italian\/EU citizen\u2019s passport.<\/li>\n
  6. Vital record document <\/strong>proving the relationship with the Italian\/EU citizen such as a marriage certificate issued by the Italian city hall or issued by an EU member state in multilingual format.
    \nForeign documents must be legalized by means of an Apostille and translated into Italian, and the translation must be legalized by the competent Italian Embassy\/Consulate.
    \nThe documents not issued in the United States must be legalized in the issuing country and the translation into Italian must be legalized by the Italian Embassy\/Consulate in that country.<\/li>\n
  7. For dependents<\/strong>: most recent tax return listing the applicant\\s as dependent\\s.<\/li>\n
  8. Flight itinerary.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  9. Provide a self-addressed<\/strong>\u00a0(from yourself \u2013 to yourself)\u00a0pre-paid envelope<\/strong>\u00a0(USPS\/ FedEx\/ UPS \/ Express Mail) to have your passport mailed back to you. An authorization form\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>must be filled out.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The visa will be issued free of charge.<\/p>\n

    This Consulate General will evaluate the documents submitted and may request additional ones at its discretion<\/strong>.<\/strong> Please be aware that submitting the required documentation does not guarantee the issuance of a visa.<\/p>\n

    Please note that:<\/strong>
    \n\u2022 Within 8 days upon arrival in Italy, you must register with the local Police Department (Questura) to obtain the Permit of Stay for Foreigners (Permesso di Soggiorno), which is the only legal document that legitimizes your stay in the country. You must renew said Permit for as long as you reside in Italy.
    \n\u2022 You will need to provide the Questura with the same documents you submitted to this Consulate General to obtain said visa.<\/p>\n

    To apply with this office you must be a legal resident of Southern California (Counties of S.
