The documents to be presented are the following:<\/p>\n
1) Form to request the registration in Italy of marriage or civil union celebrated outside Italy (Marriages<\/a>, Civil Unions<\/a>)<\/strong>;<\/p>\n 2) Certified Copy of the MARRIAGE<\/strong> CERTIFICATE<\/strong> (example<\/a>), issued by the competent authorities (County Clerk Office<\/a>);<\/p>\n 3) Certified Copy of the MARRIAGE LICENSE<\/strong>, where information is given on both the spouses and their parents (example<\/a>);<\/p>\n 4) Apostille<\/a> <\/strong>(declaration of international validity) applied both<\/u> on the Marriage Certificate<\/strong> and<\/u> the Marriage License<\/strong> issued by the \u201cSecretary of State\u201d of the State in which the marriage or civil union was celebrated (list of Secretaries of State<\/a>); the Apostille does not require translation;<\/p>\n 5) Translation <\/strong>in Italian <\/strong>of both the Marriage Certificate <\/strong>and Marriage License, <\/strong>it must be complete, typed up and faithful to the original in every aspect (list of translators<\/a>). The format of dates must follow European<\/strong> format: Day\/Month\/Year<\/em>;<\/p>\n 6) Photocopy of the Italian spouse\u2019s Italian valid passport, and a copy of the foreign citizen spouse\u2019s passport. If both spouses are Italian, please each provide a copy of your passport;<\/p>\n 7) If easily available to you, a photocopy of the birth certificate of the foreign spouse \u2013 please note this is OPTIONAL (no translation – if already in English \u2013 and no Apostille).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
