To register civil documents in Italy, there is NO need to make an appointment, simply mail or submit the documents in person\u00a0<\/strong>to the attention of the Vital Record Office at:<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

An Italian citizen\u2019s death certificate must\u00a0ALWAYS<\/strong>\u00a0be registered in Italy at the\u00a0comune<\/em>\u00a0of their last known residence. This is true even if the Italian citizen subsequently naturalized in the United States.<\/p>\n

Registering the death certificate is crucial since any legal documents pertaining to the deceased\u2019s assets, succession law, bank accounts, pension, etc. can\u00a0only<\/strong> be processed if their death certificate has been registered. You may submit a request to register a death certificate even if the deceased was not a resident, as long as their death occurred in this Consular jurisdiction.<\/p>\n
