Cinema Italian Style (November 13th to 21st)

Cinema Italian Style, the annual celebration that gathers every year the finest selection of films, actors, directors and the main protagonists of our national movie production is back in Los Angeles.

The festival – dedicated to the best of Italian culture, art, fashion and food this year – features ten titles and many short films selected by artistic curator Laura Delli Colli and American Cinematheque director of programming Gwen Deglise.

The 10-day movie marathon runs through timeless classical routes, nostalgic imagery and contemporary scenarios and will be inaugurated with the US premieres of the restored versions of Blow Up and Red Desert (Deserto Rosso) directed by Michelangelo Antonioni.

Painted memories will turn then into a modern drama, an insightful look at a different marginalized community in Southern Italy – A Ciambra, Italy’s official Oscar submission to the 90th Academy Awards for Best Foreign-Language Film, by writer-director Jonas Carpignano.

Interviews and conferences attended by filmmakers and actors of the main productions will enrich the screenings at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, and Aero Theatre in Santa Monica

The event is co-presented by the American Cinematheque and Luce Cinecittà, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, and the Italian Trade Commission, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles.
