Overpainting, an exhibit of innovative art by Italian artists, opened on April 5 at the Santa Monica Art Studio. The show, curated by Matteo Galbiati and organized in cooperation with the Italian Culturale Institute in Los Angeles, preeminently featured 5 Italian artists (Paola Fonticoli, Elena Modorati, Sonia Costantini, Paolo Iacchetti and Albano Morandi) employing in their works the stratification technique known as Overpainting: a process resulting in successive acts of cancellation aimed at constructing newer and newer images.
Pianist Giuseppina Torre, winner of the Los Angeles Music Awards 2013, performed at the opening of the exhibit on April 5 and in a special concert on April 6.
