Maestro Andrea Morricone conducted the Amor symphonic Orchestra in the first American performance of his newest production during a special evening at the New Roads School’s Ann and Jerry Moss theater, in Santa Monica. Soprano Elisabetta Russo and tenor Gianluca Sciarpelletti performed original pieces composed by Maestro Morricone with lyrics by Paola Lorenzi. The concert opened with the first symphonic arrangement of “Love Theme” written by Morricone for “Cinema Paradiso” while the enchanting instrumental piece “Evolution” concluded an evening where the intensity of the performance was matched by the appreciation of an enthusiastic public.
Andrea Morricone follows in his father’s steps: besides directing symphonic orchestras throughout the world, he has written film soundtracks (Love Theme won the BAFTA Award as Best Original Score and the soundtrack of Raul -The right to kill – conquered the “Globo d’Oro” awarded by the Foreign Press Association in Italy), as well as music for chamber orchestra, chorale and a wide repertory of instrumental music.
