Italy and Los Angeles boost aerospace ties (November 6, 2013)

On November 6-8 a delegation of Italian aerospace companies visited Los Angeles within the framework of a business mission promoted by Confindustria, in cooperation with Simest, Aiad, Agenzia Ice and the Consulate General. The Los Angeles program was put together in collaboration with the City of L.A., World Trade Center, L.A. Economic Development Council and Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. The Italian companies (Loccioni, Alva, CIRA, Federexport, Kayser, Marposs, Somacis) met with counterparts and explored trade and investment opportunities. In addition to on-site visits to Boeing, SpaceX and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the delegation took part in a workshop at the Italian Cultural Institute which included a networking session with partners and clients.
In his remarks Consul General Perrone underlined the central role the aerospace sector plays in the cooperation between Italy and the US, given also its obvious connection to defense and international security. Despite the global recession, he added, Italian aerospace companies managed to maintain in the last few years to maintain their positions at the international level. Italy places fourth among EU countries for the size of the aerospace sector and more than half of its income comes from exports.
