“The Great Beauty”, the new captivating film by Paolo Sorrentino was the centerpiece of 2013 Cinema Italian Style, the annual festival at its 13th edition showcasing the newest Italian cinema production in Hollywood. “The Great Beauty”, Italy’s official entry for the 86th Academy Awards, was introduced by director Paolo Sorrentino during a special event at the Egyptian Theatre with the participation of acclaimed Oscar winning director Bernardo Bertolucci. The movie, telling the story of an aging writer who bitterly recollects his passionate, lost youth among Rome’s high society looking back on his life on his 65th birthday, is released in the US by Janus Films and Criterion Collection (opening in NY on Nov. 15, then in LA on the 22nd and additional cities from Nov. 29).
