L.A. City Council proclaims October Italian Heritage Month (October 18, 2013)

In the plenary meeting of October 18th, as done in previous years, the Los Angeles City Council proclaimed October as Italian American Heritage Month.
During the session Councilman Joe Buscaino intervened to underline the importance of Italian Heritage month and to reassert the Council’s commitment to promoting Italian American heritage and values throughout the city of Los Angeles in constant cooperation with the Italian American Associations and Italian institutions in L.A..
On behalf of the Los Angeles City Council, Buscaino presented Consul General Perrone with the Italian Leadership Award in recognition of his “his service and leadership to the Italian-American community of Los Angeles and beyond”.  In thanking for the important award, Consul General Perrone expressed appreciation for the continuing support by L.A. institutions to the promotion of Italian heritage and their commitment to strengthening the ties between Italy and Southern California.
The main Italian American Associations in Southern California participated in the event, including  Federated Italo-Americans of Southern California, NIAF, Order Sons of Italy, San Gennaro Foundation, Italian Americans of San Pedro, IAMLA Foundation.
