The Italian Cultural Institute in L.A. hosted an exhibition of over 100 images by photographer Roberto Villa (who was in attendance at the opening held on August 2) on the set of Arabian Nights by Pier Paolo Pasolini, documenting the director’s work in the Middle East (Yemen and Iran) and also offering one of the last portraits of a land that would become a war zone. The exhibit, curated Rosalba Trebbian and Gianluca Farinelli in collaboration with Fondo Roberto Villa – Cineteca di Bologna, will be open until August 28 at the Italian Cultural Institute.

Pasolini’s intellectual legacy as a filmmaker was also celebrated with a retrospective featuring masterpieces such as Accattone (1961), Decameron (1971), Sal or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975). A series of events will accompany the retrospective, paying homage to Pasolini’s versatile career. Organzied by UCLA Film & Television Archive, American Cinemathque, Luce Cinecitt and the Italian Culturual Institute in collaboration with Centro Studi-Archivio Pier Paolo Pasolini/Cineteca di Bologna.
