Against the backdrop of the Watts Towers, the amazing construction erected by Italian immigrant Simon Rhodia more than 60 years ago, and today under the loving care of the Watts Towers Arts Center, another Italian-American, Joe Buscaino, was sworn in on July 27 as council member for the 15th district of the city of Los Angeles.

Following the ceremony, mc'd by Herb Wesson, President of L. A. City Council, and attended among others by Congresswomen Janice Hahn and Maxine Waters, a Little Italy street fair took place in the shadow of the towers, amid the enjoyment of Watts residents and excited visitors.
