Live in HD from Teatro alla Scala of Milan (March 25, 2013)

La Scala’s Philharmonic Orchestra came live to Beverly Hills Laemmle Music Hall bringing to cinematic life in HD classical masterpieces directed by the world’s leading conductors in what was a unique program from Europe’s premier symphony. MusicEmotion transported audiences to the glorious Teatro alla Scala in Milan for an Old World musical experience in high definition.

Hosts Francesco Micheli and Joelle Williams went behind the scenes, interviewing the artists, and introducing each concert from places associated with the lives of the composers. Audiences had the opportunity to closely observe the orchestra, the soloists, and the gestures and expressions of the conductors, allowing them to savor every musical nuance.

The first production featured, under Daniel Harding’s direction, Maurerische Trauermusik by Mozart,  excerpts from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde and from Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben. The second video, dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi, under Riccardo Chailly’s direction, featured the Overtures of Nabucco, Les Vêpres siciliennes and Giovanna D’Arco, in addition to excerpts from Les Vêpres siciliennes (Les Saisons e Ballabili).
