“A Taste of Italy” took place on March 10th at a Bel Air private residence with the participation of renowned chef Massimo Bottura, owner of a Michelin 3 - Star restaurant “Osteria Francescana” in Modena, Italy. Hollywood stars, philanthropists and personalities from L.A.’s cultural and artistic scene attended the evening.
The event was put together under  “2013 - Year of Italian Culture in the US”  in partnership with four of Italy’s top wine producers – Frescobaldi (Tuscany), Donnafugata (Sicily), Masi (Veneto), Berlucchi (Lombardy)  – and one water brand symbol of made in Italy, S.Pellegrino and the Alma Association.
In his remarks the Consul General stressed the important role food and wine occupy in Italian culture, as key components of the national identity and crucial economic resource for the country. The continuity between tradition and innovation, indicated the Consul General, is what makes Italian culture so unique. And it is the same continuity between classic Italian cuisine and bold experimentation that keeps Italy at the forefront of modern cuisine and wine making, he added.
In explaining the elaborate and sophisticated menu of the evening, Chef Bottura guided the guests through an emotional journey of the regions of Italy emphasizing the origin of the products and the intricacies of the cooking process. Mr. Bottura proudly promoted the basic concepts at the roots of Italian cuisine making guests enthusiastic in front of a truly unique dining experience.
