Quentin Tarantino and and Christoph Waltz awarded at LA – Italia (February 19, 2013)

Oscar winners Italian American director Quentin Tarantino and Christoph Waltz, leading actor in Django Unchained, have been recognized for their extraordinary  achievements on February 19th during the  8th edition of the Los Angeles – Italia Film, Fashion and Arts Fest organized by Istituto Capri nel Mondo (lead by Pascal Vicedomini) , whose mission  is to promote Italian cinema in the US. Tarantino and Waltz received the Italian excellence award from the hands of Elisabetta Canalis and producer Harvey Weinstein.

L.A. – Italia Film Fest, organized in cooperation with the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, the Italian Trade Commission and Cinecitta’ Studios, is one of the key moments in the celebration of the 2013 – Year of Italian Culture in the United States. It enjoys the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry for Economic Development and the Directorate General of Cinema of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
In his opening remarks the Consul General, thanked all attendees, and particularly the Hollywood movie stars who came to the Chinese Theatre to celebrate Italy and its cinema, as evidence of its extraordinary and lasting influence.

Quentin Tarantino proudly recalled his Italian roots and the inspiration he has drawn from Sergio Corbucci’s Spaghetti Western  genre. Italian actor Franco Nero’s presence on stage further highlighted the link with the historic Django movie of 1966. Equally acclaimed was Christof Walz who played in Django Unchained the character of  Dr. King Schultz, the German bounty hunter.
