Regulation of Civil Unions between Individuals of the Same Sex and Rules Regarding Cohabitation.
With reference to Law 76/2016 on the “Regulation of Civil Unions between Individuals of the Same Sex and Rules Regarding Cohabitation” we hereby inform that in accordance with Decree no.144/2016 issued by the President of the Council of Ministers (published in the Gazzetta Ufficiale, n.175, on July 28, 2016), Civil Unions contracted according to Italian Law in an Italian Consulate (visit the Consular Network webpage to find the Consulate that has jurisdiction over the area of residence of one of the parties) can now be registered in the Vital Records Registry.
Furthermore, the Consular Office can now send foreign Marriage or Civil Union Certificates between people of the same sex to the Comune (town) of reference for registration of the same in the Provisional Registry of Civil Unions established through said Decree.

Please note that it is not necessary to make an appointment for birth/marriage/divorce/death registration, simply send all the required documentation via FedEx or USPS to the attention of the Vital Records department at 1900 Avenue of the Stars, suite 1250; Los Angeles, CA 90067
