 To be able to obtain a new Italian passport, adult applicant will need to:

1. be Italian Citizens;

2. be enrolled into our AIRE (registry for Italian living abroad) and reside in our consular jurisdiction of South California, New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada;

3. have booked an appointment online through our Prenota OnLine booking system.


On the day of the appointment each applicant will have to appear in person. The appointment does not imply any obligation to issue the passport by the Office, which will provide the service only after verifying, the day of the appointment, that the applicant is entitled to the Italian passport.


A) Applicants that are ONLY Italian Citizens:

1) Passport application form;

2) 2 passport size pictures;

3) Previous Italian passport;

4) US Visa or Green Card issued after August 16th, 1992. If these documents cannot be provided the applicant will have to provide a US Immigration declaration confirming the applicant never became an American Citizen or show the US entry stamp on the passport. Without the above NO PASSPORT will be issued;

5) Consent of the other parent, if you have children younger than 18(under "References" on the right of the screen). The parental consent is ALWAYS necessary even if the applicant is one of the parents and not the minor. The consent cannot be older than 6 months. Please also provide a photocopy of the minor’s birth certificates:

  1. If other parent is a citizen of Italy or of the European Union: the consent form signed by the other parent must include a photocopy of his/her Italian or E.U. passport (page with passport holder’s information AND signature).
  2. If other parent is NOT a citizen of Italy of the European Union: the signature on the consent form must be authenticated either by a notary public, OR by an Honorary Consul, OR by a Consular Officer on the day of the appointment.
  3. If other parent is deceased: provide a photocopy of the death certificate of the deceased parent.

6) Passport Fee. Please consult our Consular Fees under "References on the right of the screen RILASCIO ART. 27 (A + B) ONLY money order (or cashier’s check) made out to “Consulate General of Italy”.

7) Pre-paid and self-addressed envelope, if the applicant prefers to have his passport mailed, he/she will have to bring a pre-paid, self-addressed USPS Priority envelope (no FedEx no UPS). Please also fill out this mailing consent form.

The information in this section is merely for informative purposes. All the requirements for the issuance of a passport will be verified upon receipt of the request.


B) Applicants with DUAL CITIZENSHIP (Italian and American)

1) Passport application form;

2) 2 passport size pictures;

3) Previous Italian passport;

4) United States Passport AND copy of USA Certificate of Naturalization (the Certificate of Naturalization is required only for Italian citizens who were naturalized as United States citizens after birth);

5) Copy of Consular Report of Birth Abroad(only for United States Citizens born outside of United States);

6) Consent of the other parent, if you have children younger than 18 . The parental consent is ALWAYS necessary even if the applicant is one of the parents and not the minor. The consent cannot be older than 6 months. Please also provide a photocopy of the minor’s birth certificates:

  1. If other parent is a citizen of Italy or of the European Union: the consent form signed by the other parent must include a photocopy of his/her Italian or E.U. passport (page with passport holder’s information AND signature).
